Part 2: Grace, Glory, and Godliness

Last week, as Pastor Brad began our Titus series (Truth to Transform a Town), we saw that “knowing the truth leads to transformation.” As we think about what’s ahead for IBC and Grace Church, we need reminded that these two must go together. If we try to have the knowledge of God without godliness, we end up with hypocrisy. If we try to have godliness without the knowledge of God, we end up with self-righteousness—which is nothing like real righteousness! Today’s text gives us multiple examples of godliness, and then shows us how to be godly. We need to be trained by grace while keeping our eyes on glory. We need to remember what God has already done for us in Christ and look forward to when Christ will return. In this way we will be “zealous for good works” (2:14) rather than “unfit for any good work” (1:16).
